About The Plough Inn

You can be assured of a warm welcome when you visit the 18th Century Plough Inn, situated at the lower end of Finstock's High Street. We are a traditional thatched, country pub with parts of the building dating back to 1772.

Settle back and warm yourself in front of our roaring log Inglenook fire when the temperature drops and enjoy a drink from our well stocked bar with a range of local ales and a comprehensive, good value wine list. When the sun is shining and the weather is good, escape into our large pub garden where we also serve food.

Our friendly staff look forward to serving you freshly cooked food at great value prices, all prepared in-house. Our menu uses many local seasonal ingredients, including vegetables grown in our garden.

We are a dog friendly establishment and well-behaved dogs are most welcome in the bar area. We cater for children too and have a children's menu with main course prices at just £5.95 per head.

The Plough Inn has a number of theme nights throughout the year.

We serve our full menu in the bar and restaurant so check out the blackboards for the daily seasonal menu.

We can't wait to see you!

Fish and Chips

I visited this pub with my family on Tuesday and we had their 2 for 1 fish and chips. The fish was delicious and the batter was so light! The chips were totally delicious and we all really enjoyed our visit the staff were all really attentive and Guy the landlord was very friendly and made us all feel very welcome. We would definitely recommend a visit to this country pub.....fantastic!!!

Best Oxfordshire Pub EVER!!!

Coming home to England wouldn't be the same without stopping in at the Plough Inn to see our favourite landlord Guy. It's always our first stop for a pint of Old Rosie, homemade rhubarb gin, and the "posh" fish finger sandwich and 3 x fried chips. We made it three times this trip and took part in our first Monday night pub quiz. It was great fun. I highly recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner, 2 for 1 fish and chips, or just for a great brew and fantastic company. The Plough never fails to please. See you at Christmas Guy and Oscar (pub dog)!

Delicious and fun

Great relaxed atmosphere, good service and food advice. Sometimes you have to find out quite a lot about food being served to you. They do that rather well.
I had a Vegan Burger with home made chips. A simple meal actually, however it was fantastic, the burger being indistinguishable from an ordinary burger which I love to eat.

Outstanding pub

We stumbled across this pub whilst on a walk. We were tired and hungry and the landlord welcomed us right in. We sat in a quiet garden courtyard and enjoyed the roast pork and the roast lamb, both of which were absolutely perfect. The mint sauce was the best I've ever had. We also had a wonderful English bitter Adnams Broadside and a cracking great cider, Old Rosie, both on hand pump as it should be. If you want great food with a cheerful pub atmosphere and traditional English ales, look no further.

Good old fashion pub

Entering the Plough is like a trip back through time. I don`t supposed its changed much over the last 100 years. This make it nostalgic. As it was Tuesday they have 2 for 1 on fish and chips we decided to have it. I have not tasted better fish and chips since I was was a child. The fish was so fresh I had forgotten what fresh fish tasted like. Nice friendly landlord and a good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Best Sunday Lunch Ever!

If you are looking for great food, welcoming staff and a convivial atmosphere, then you must try the Plough Inn, I am sure you will not be disappointed. The Inn oodles lots of charm, lashings of genuine hospitality and good quality, very reasonably priced food and drink. Our host and Landlord, Guy, was delightful and together with his smiley staff we were treated to first class service and an array of tasty food and drink. I had delicious roast Oxfordshire Lamb which was cooked to perfection, coated with gravy and presented with ample roast potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. My friend had the roast pork, equally delicious and we both chose apple crumble with ice cream, which was also scrumptious.Together with a very reasonable and extensive wine list the whole experience was extremely enjoyable. Thank you Guy and your team. Will certainly return, promise.
